Our time is valuable and so is the patients time and the companies, as well.

It’s really important to consider all parties when outlining your schedule. Depending on your roll, it is important to realize that we need to accomodate multiple schedules to make our days productive. If you are mobile and need to coordinate with patients to do home visits, it is very important to keep your schedule on time as much as possible. Not only for the sake of your work day, but also because your patients may be fasting until you have taken their blood. They could have other appointments or medications that are timed and if you deviate from your schedule to much it can throw everyone else’s day off as well. Very rarely does your schedule only effect you.

On the same subject, it is important that you do not allow others to manipulate your schedule too much. If you have meetings or clients scheduled, do your best to adhere to the agreed upon schedule. Unfortunately, more times than not, when you change everything around to try to accomodate one individual or group, they will be the people that cancel on you at the last minute, and then you have changed everything around for no reason. I suppose the moral of the story here is, be flexible, but not too flexible that you put yourself and others in a bad situation. It is always a good idea to stand firm on your schedule so that others understand that your position is important to you and you take it seriously.
